Ernst (Ernest) Gustaf Danbom. Born 26 October 1877 in Stanton, Iowa, USA. Died 15 April 1912 in Titanic. There are various reports about Ernst Danbom's date of birth, some in 1877, other in 1878. Anyway he was born in USA. He married Anna Sigrid Maria Brogren from Horn (E) in Chicago in the autumn of 1910. They travelled to Sweden in 1911 in order to visit families in Småland. While they were in Sweden, their son Ernst Gilbert was born. Ernst Danbom persuaded his brother-in-law, Anders's Andersson, to emigrate to America along with his wife and children. The two families, Andersson and Danbom, reserved place on the new the boat Titanic for crossing to USA in 1912. So, the collision with the iceberg happened on the night the 15th of April, 1912. Ernst Danbom lost his life on board Titanic along with his wife, Sigrid, and his son Gilbert. An investigation aiming at finding out with the help of DNA whether the rests of that child body, that was found after the ship accident, belong to little Gilbert Danbom.

His last place of sojourn was Gothenburg before the travel to Southampton, where he along with his family went on board the Titanic as third-class passengers on Wednesday the 3rd of April, 1912 with the ticket nr.347080. When Titanic sank, Gilbert Danbom was 4 months and 30 days old. The destination was Stanton in the United States. Gilbert died at the loss of the ship. His body was never found. A child from Titanic that was found earlier has been assessed as a belonging to an older child, but new information maintains that the body belongs to a baby. It is believed that the child may be the lacking Gilbert Danbom. DNA- testing has been initiated.
